Barking Dogs Next Door

When I moved in this house my neighbors did not have a dog. Then, a couple years later they had to move and they sold the house to a nice, older lady. She did not have a dog when she moved in, but one night she had a problem with a criminal attempting to break into her house. They thought no one was home because all the lights were out and there was no car in the driveway. Her house is set back from the road a good ways, and without even a nightlight or stove light left one, it looks empty or abandoned.

After the attempted robbery in which that guy was lucky he didn’t get killed because she did have a gun and she shot him while screaming into the telephone to the police to come help her, she decided to get a dog. It’s supposedly for protection, but the Golden Labradors are not known for their guard dog abilities. What are they going to do? Lick the burglar to death?

I don’t blame her for wanting a dog, but if it was truly for protection she should take it to be trained and it should not be left outside at night to bark and disturb all the neighbors. I have not figured out a polite way to approach her about this yet, but the constant barking at night when she is not home to stop it is driving me nuts.

No Mail for Four Days

The last mail that made it to my mailbox at the end of my driveway was last Wednesday. Of course, they don’t deliver mail on Sundays, But no mail on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and none today either. That must be a world record.

Either I’m caught up with all my bills or someone is stealing my mail. I think I need to watch for the mail truck tomorrow and ask him if he has noticed the same pattern or anything suspicious.

A Good Beef Brisket

Today I found a nice sized beef brisket on sale at the Kroger grocery store. This was a stroke of good luck. Kroger almost never has any decent meat on mark down.

I bought that brisket for half price and would have bought 4 or 5 more if they had them marked down like this one. I could pop those briskets in the freezer and cook one every week this next month. Brisket is so easy – just throw a few spices in the pan and leave it to cook for 7 or 8 hours on the lowest setting your oven has got. Or, if you need to speed it up a little bit, you can do 325 degrees for 5 or 6 hours. I’ve heard that some people like to cook their brisket in their crock pot. That sounds good to me, too.

Born to be Bad

baby tats

First off, this is a joke, people! There is no way you can get tattoos on a baby. But if you COULD get someone to put tats on this baby, aren’t the ones on here a hoot? The big “Mama” on his back?!?! This cracked me up!

Growing up is Optional

havent-grown-up

Like they say, growing older is mandatory. Growing up is optional. I like the permission in this banner, too.
