Phone Overboard

Well, today was not a good one for me. I started out having a great day – we went fishing at the Lake. Didn’t really expect to catch anything, but it has been so warm that getting the jon boat out sounded like a good idea. So we spent 3 hours putting worms on hooks and didn’t catch a thing. On the way back to the boat ramp, I leaned over to check the motor and PLOP! My cell phone jumped out of my pocket and went overboard. Totally my own fault – can’t even yell at anyone.

GPS Helped

Most of the time I need to go someplace locally that I already know both where it is and how to get there. But now thee are some parts of town that are new and I’ve not had the need to go over there yet. That’s when a GPS can come in handy. It’s not that I can’t ask for directions, but with a GPS I should not have to ask.

An App for That

Commercials are always talking about all these “apps” that you can get. I know they are mostly for the new expensive smart phones, which I don’t have. But some of these apps look pretty cool. I’d be interested in upgrading my phone if anyone from the phone company would bother to give me a call and make me an offer on that. But it seems the phone company doesn’t care what kind of phone I use or what I pay for my cell phone service each month. They made their initial sale and put my ass on ignore.

Antivirus Nuisance

Sometimes I miss the old days of the computer and internet. You know, when no one had to worry about hackers and viruses. It was such a cool new thing and then some jerks had to come along and ruin it for everyone. Now you have to be careful about viruses and malware and hackers and be paranoid all the time. That just takes the shine right off of everything for me.

Ear buds

All these kids wearing earbuds while they listen to their music on their iPods and MP3 players have me puzzled. How can they stand to have those things in their ears all the time? I have tried all kinds of brands and styles but I don’t like those earbuds. They make my ears itch and drive me nuts.

When I went to the Levon Helm show at the Ryman Auditorium about 2 years ago, I knew they were recording the show. The video guys were obvious but not intrusive, and there were no do-overs or director running around. It was a whole show, with lots of special guests and some of the best music I have ever heard. I’m plum tickled that the concert is now coming out on DVD. I want this DVD!

Fix My Phone!

Broke my cell phone last night. I don’t know what I did, but it says it is locked and it wants a password or PIN code or something. That just kicks my butt, because I have never put a password on this phone that I know of. I know the bill was paid on time, so its no reason for the phone company to do this to me as a way to collect money. I guess I have to take it into the cell phone store and someone there help me figure this out.

Country Music

I’m surrounded by people who live and breathe country music. That is one of the advantages of living in Music City.

My waitress at my favorite Mexican restaurant is a fiddle player who works with George Jones. My next door neighbor runs a private wedding chapel where over 200 celebrities have exchanged vows in privacy. My barber goes down to the Grand Old Opry and does hair for the performers every weekend. My mechanic fixes cars for Alan Jackson.

At the bank drive through window I saw Travis Tritt using the ATM. At the chiropractor next to my office, Wynonna Judd parks her BMW next to my car and goes in for an adjustment every couple of weeks. My secretary’s husband plays drums as a session player on Music Row.

We are all connected.

Cowgirl of My Dreams

The best part of this photo is the way the light comes across the cowgirl. The second best part is that you don’t see much of her face, so in your mind’s eye she could be just about anyone you want her to be. I want to take this photo and make it into a painting, in the Van Gogh style. I might even have photo editing software that will do that. I’ll have to check on that and see if it works like I have it pictured in my mind.

Less Sleep

Last night we switched to Daylight Savings Time again. That means that when it should have been 8:00 am this morning, it became 9:00 am. So if I needed to be somewhere at 10:00 am I had to either change my clocks before falling asleep, so I had to change my alarm to wake me up an hour earlier. Either way, I lost an hour of sleep last night and now I’m late.
