Yesterday I went to a local coffee shop called Paccini’s which is just a half mile or so from the shopping center where I buy my groceries every week. It sounded Italian and I like a lot of Italian things, so I drove over and went inside. The coffee shop is small and intimate, but the extremely high ceiling made it a little too noisy for my preference. I ordered a plain Columbian coffee to see how they compared to the taste of my regular Starbucks coffee. It was very good and a dollar cheaper than Starbucks. So maybe I’ll go by there a second time and see if the noise issue is really all that bad.

As much as I like Starbucks coffee, it is an acquired taste and I wonder if drinking Starbucks coffee exclusively is depriving me of other coffee tasting adventures. There are other coffee shops around town besides Starbucks. Almost all of them have free wi-fi, so I can sit at a small cafe table or in a booth with my laptop and sip on a fresh cup of java. I think today I will try one of the other local shops and give their coffee a taste test. It might be time for a change.
